Bon Voyage: Patriotic experiences abound around the U.S.

Tomorrow, the United States celebrates its 235th birthday. Most U.S. towns will host some sort of celebration, but patriotic experiences are available year-round. Any destination can offer a patriotic experience. I learned this when my husband and I went to Sacramento so he could take his citizenship oath.

Hundreds of new citizens, their families and friends filled a deco-style theater in serious need of renovation. It was dimly lit and a little dreary, but the ceremony and speech from a V.F.W. representative was deeply moving.
