Bon Voyage: ... damage in Hawaii

This week I had a two readers with plans to visit Hawaii's Big Island ask if I've heard anything about the post-tsunami situation there. Coincidentally a friend of mine returned to Redding from the Big Island the day before the tsunami. She called friends who owned a bed and breakfast there to make sure they were safe. They told her everyone was evacuated, but buildings she'd admired and streets she'd strolled were submerged; partially or completely. ...
