If you plan to use your cell phone, see your contract or contact your provider to find out the rates for foreign calls. Cell calls from abroad have the same catch as do the ones received locally: You pay for them regardless if you’re the caller or receiver. Rates for cell calls from Europe often run $2 or $3 per minute; a good thing to know if you like to describe every detail of your trip to a friend while you’re there. ...
