Bon Voyage: The pros and cons of microchips in credit cards
Sunday, November 20, 2011 at 10:25 If you're a Wells Fargo customer who travels abroad, you may have been selected for the bank's pioneer program of its microchipped credit card — the Visa Smart Card — this summer. Other banks and credit card companies have plans to introduce chipped cards if they've not already done so.
According to a Wells Fargo agent in Credit Card Services, the card is safer from theft and customers probably won't have to enter a PIN at a foreign or out-of-state business. Wells Fargo often receives complaints from traveling customers about entering their PINs, the agent said. ...
