Bon Voyage: Airport layover can be holiday

I’ve slept on a park bench.

I was young, exhausted and had a seven-hour layover in Zagreb, Croatia. I napped in the park next to the airport, full of snoozing travelers.

While I strongly urge that no one sleep in a park — if just for safety and legal reasons — I do recommend travelers plan for long layovers and know an airport’s features, including rest areas, before departure. ...
